Glycolic acid is a naturally-derived substance. Glycolic peels gently removes dead surface skin cells and are a great way to rejuvenate your skin and produce collagen.
This acid has excellent exfoliating abilities, which makes it ideal for treating fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, and acne scars. Glycolic acid is absorbed readily by the skin, resulting in a rapid shedding of your dead skin layer. This shedding process reveals your bright, glowing skin underneath!

You may experience some light tingling, stinging or heat during your treatment. Each treatment takes 5-10 minutes, and we can provide a fan to make you more comfortable. The treatment does not require anesthetic.
Your skin will initially be slightly pink or red, depending on how you respond to the treatment. In a few days, you may notice some light flaking or peeling of your skin. This is normal and is a sign that the peel is working to remove the top layer of dead, damaged skin.
If the provider performed extra spot treatments to your skin, you may have some areas that are crusty or scabby for 1-2 weeks. These areas will peel and should not be picked. Picking can result in scarring and discoloration.
The risks are very low from having a Glycolic Peel. However, if you pick at any areas that are crusty or scabby you may notice that the areas get darker temporarily. Scarring is extremely rare.
Both treatments deliver similar results. Our patients choose Glycolic Peels if their schedules are busy and they need a quick treatment to deliver optimum results.
Glycolic Peels do well for superficial lesions, like the kind you see from acne. We use an additional special chemical for thick, warty spots. This additional chemical may slightly affect the cost and downtime of your treatment.
